Greene County Extension & Outreach is offering mask kits for community members to either keep for personal use or to donate. Greene County Extension office assistant Cindy Adamson donated fabric and is preparing kits for anyone who would like them.
Two different patterns are available as well as a list of where that specific pattern can be donated locally. “This is a way for Greene County Extension to show our support to our community during this difficult time,” said Kayla Willms, Greene County 4-H & youth coordinator.
Persons can pick up kits at the Extension office Monday through Friday from 9 to 11 am. Each kit has directions and supplies to make one mask. A sewing machine will be required to assemble.
Also, Iowa 4-H has set a goal of making and donating 25,000 masks statewide. The Iowa 4 H program empowers young people to be well-informed citizens who are actively engaged in their communities and the world. Iowa 4-H is calling all 4-H members, leaders, alumni, judges, and friends to create face masks for their community, including friends, neighbors, hospitals, and care centers. The original goal was to create 10,000 masks, and as of April 23, there have been more than 13,000 masks donated.
